What was the idea and inspiration behind the Orbit bed?
“The inspiration for the bed's shape comes from old bridges, where you often see impressive structures made of metal or wood – arches that are assembled into a strong and beautiful whole. With the Orbit bed, I wanted to create a bed where a distinctive circular shape both supports the structure and defines its appearance.”
How did you work to combine flexibility and aesthetics in the design?
“With Orbit, flexibility has not been a central goal in the design. The essential element is the clearly defined bed frame, which exudes both softness and weight. The wide surfaces highlight the warmth and structure of the pine wood.”
What experience do you want people to have when using the Orbit bed?
“I hope that the bed's simple and soft shape will contribute to a calm and ‘grounded’ environment in the home. It will be exciting to see if people stain the bed with a color that highlights their style and personality.”
